2012-01-07 - 2:25 p.m. Want to know how custom-sized tonfa cost? $95. Ouch. But they'd actually fit my hands and be made out of better quality wood. Hmm... I started tonfa last week, and realized the handles of my tonfa are about an inch too long. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it makes a difference when you start doing hand switches and other moves. Or when your hands start getting sweaty and start slipping up the handle. You're supposed to keep the long end tight against your arm, so if your hand slips upward there's a gap between the weapon and your arm. Makes for bad blocks and weak swings. Maybe I'm putting too much blame on the weapon and should work on my grip instead? Fortunately my sempai has a spare pair of tonfa that are too small for him, so I will try those next week. Work is doing its usual vicious cycle again. Another person is quitting from our department. That's two people within half a year. They never bothered replacing the last person that quit, so we're short already. Now that the 2nd person is quitting we're panicking. Fortunately my supervisor convinced the person that's quitting to stay through the end of the month, so we're good until Feb. After that we're screwed. Oh yeah, and I won't get two consecutive days off anymore since we're shorthanded. Hooray... Oh, and to top it all off, they transferred some of my accounts out to a separate branch. At end of Feb. they're transferring a few more out. I feel I'm slowly losing any purpose I have at the office. All right, time to blast away my woes with Mass Effect. Shooting robots and monsters never fails to distract.
